Hougaard Winterbach is a South African artist living in Stellenbosch in the Western Cape province.

He is avid about drawing and has been using it as his main mode of artistic expression for as long as he can remember.

His drawings are characterised by the juxtaposition of disparate objects or themes within one drawing.

He also makes sculpture as a continuation of his jewellery making experience. His work is figurative and he sculpts in wax after which the work is cast in bronze.

His bronzes are relatively small and detailed, reflecting the intimacy of jewellery design. He studied jewellery design and sculpture and lectures in drawing and illustration at a private art institution.

He has held two solo exhibitions to date and has exhibited his drawings, jewellery and sculptures in various group exhibitions.
